HOW YOU CAN HELP:

In 2007, both the US Congress and US Senate passed resolutions proclaiming March 30 as NATIONAL Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day [WHVVD]. On March 30, 2008 in Whittier, California nearly 3000 Veterans, and their family and friends joined together at California High School to celebrate WHVVD. It was a great success. On Sunday March 29, 2009 again at California High School in Whittier we will host our SECOND ANNUAL WHVVD CELEBRATION. However, our goal is to celebrate WHVVD on the same day in every state in The Union. Our theme in 2009 is "WHVVD Welcomes Home All Veterans. " But, we need your help to accomplish this mission. We need you, your heart and your efforts to make this happen in your community for your Veterans! To find out how you can make this happen, contact us. We will show you and help you to make this a reality in your community.

A BRIEF HISTORY:

Jose Ramos is the brain child of this event, we began in the year 2000 to campaign for a WHVVD. It was a grass roots effort. Eight years of hard work have paid off because many veterans are getting welcomed home, believe it or not over the years we have ran into many Vietnam Veterans who have never been told, "thank you for your service and welcome home". These simple words are healing words for many of our veterans. We have proved to ourselves and others over and over again that these simple words can help heal old wounds for many of our Veterans.

THE CHALLENGE:

I challenge each and everyone of you to thank a veteran. I am not just talking about Vietnam Veterans but all Veterans who have served or are serving. If you know you have a Veteran in your presence, walk up to him and say "Thank you for your service and welcome home". It makes a difference for them and it is the greatest tribute you can pay a Veteran. They will be touched, moved and inspired. I am so proud to be a part of this mission. I have experience the healing results first hand. If you take this challenge, not only will you honor a Veteran but you will honor yourself. Together we can make a difference.

CONTACT CONGRESS:

Another way to help is to contact congress tell your representatives that you support a "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" for March 30th every year as a day to Welcome Home All Veterans! A day to remember that unlike the Vietnam Veteran Era, we will never forget to welcome home our Veterans again. The links to contact your representative is on this page to your left sidebar. You will also find links to the official declarations H.Res189 and S.Res269 passed unanimously by both the House and the Senate.
